Solomonic Grimoires

  • The Lemegeton: King Solomon's Lesser Key

Downloaded: 2 times | Size: 132 pages | Add to wishlist | Download for @100 credits

This is transcription of the Lesser Key. The second half of the book has photocopy pages of the actual text they used: This being Sloane MS 2731. This is nice because we can gain some of the energy and essence of the person who transcribe this English version of the Key via their writings and drawings. One down side to this version is the missing Notary Art. Only a few pages are included. Other than that, it is nice to have another source of information for the Key. The more we know, the better equipped we are to endeavor into the work and walk the path.

  • A Book of the Office of Spirits

Downloaded: 13 times | Size: 93 pages | Add to wishlist | Download for @200 credits

A Book of the Offices of Spirits is the first ever publication of this Solomonic text or grimoire which, in common with the better-known "Goetia," is essentially a catalog of demons, giving their name, description, rank in the infernal hieararchy, number of attendant legions, offices (abilities), as well as a variety of magical rituals for their conjuration and other purposes. The text has its origin in a magical manuscript written by one John Porter in 1583, which was itself probably drawn from earlier European sources. In the early nineteenth century the Porter manuscript came into the possession of the British occult fraternity, "the Mercurii," and a transcription of key sections was compiled by John Palmer. Palmer's transcription was in turn copied by the renowned occult scholar Frederick Hockley, and this transcription, along with another anonymous late nineteenth century manuscript copy, for the basis for the present work.

  • Marathakis - The Magical Treatise of Solomon, or Hygromanteia

Downloaded: 31 times | Size: 372 pages | Add to wishlist | Download for @500 credits

The Magical Treatise of Solomon, or Hygromanteia is the ultimate grimoire — the absolute foundation of ceremonial magic. The true source of the Key of Solomon, it is arguably the most significant magical text in the world. For the first time ever, this extraordinary work has been translated from the original Greek into English, allowing magic scholars worldwide to finally access its treasures. The translator, Ioannis Marathakis, is a native born Greek academic with an extensive knowledge of ceremonial magic. Unlike the abridged Latin translation, this groundbreaking work is the complete text, now arranged in its proper order.

  • Rankine - Grimoire of Arthur Gauntlet

Downloaded: 24 times | Size: 319 pages | Add to wishlist | Download for @300 credits

The Grimoire of Arthur Gauntlet is an outstanding example of a seventeenth century London Cunning-man's book of practice. Cunning-folk were practitioners of magic and herbal medicine who dealt with problems in their local communities. Cunning-man Arthur Gauntlet was based in Gray's Inn Lane in London, and his personal working book contains a fascinating diverse mixture of herbal remedies, prayers, magical and biblical charms, with previously unseen angelic conjurations and magic circles, in an eclectic blend of practical magic for health, wealth, love and protection. This unique manuscript demonstrates both the diverse and spiritual nature of such Cunning-folk's books of practice, as well as their magical emphasis on Biblical scripture, particularly the Psalms, and their opposition to witchcraft, found in charms and conjurations. Arthur Gauntlet worked with a female skryer called Sarah Skelhorn, and drew on numerous preceding sources for his craft, including the Arbatel, the Heptameron, Folger Vb.26, The Discoverie of Witchcraft, the Book of Gold, the writings of the German magus Cornelius Agrippa, the astrologer William Bacon and Queen Elizabeth I's court astrologer Dr. John Dee, as well as other London Cunning-folk. In his introduction, the author provides fresh insights into the hidden world of seventeenth century magical London, exploring the web of connections between astrologers, cunning-folk and magicians, playwrights, authors and church figures. These connections are also highlighted by the provenance of the manuscript, which is traced from Arthur Gauntlet through the hands of such notable angel magicians as Elias Ashmole (founder of the world's first public museum, the Ashmolean in Oxford), Baron Somers (the Lord Chancellor), Sir Joseph Jekyll (Master of the Rolls) and Sir Hans Sloane (founder of the British Museum), as well as the astrologer John Humphreys and the cunning-woman Ann Savadge. This is a unique work which draws attention to the often neglected place of women in seventeenth century magic, both as practitioners (such as skryers and Cunning-women), and customers. It also emphasises the vital and influential role played by Cunning-Men and Women in synthesising and transmitting the magical traditions of medieval Britain into the subsequent centuries, as well as their willingness to conjure a wide range of spiritual creatures to achieve results for their clients, including angels, demons, fairies, and the dead.

Other Grimoires

  • [ recommended ] The Treasure of the Old Man of the Pyramids: The True Sience of Talismans to conjure up spirits of all kinds, to control them, to obtain all that one may wish and to foil their evil spells.

Downloaded: 37 times | Size: 59 pages | Add to wishlist | Download for @500 credits

The first time in English; this is a translation of the 1839 Lille (Brussels) edition of "Treasure of the Old Man of the Pyramids", the classic grimoire of Talismanic Magic. The introduction by the original editors of the book, the Van Meulsten Brothers, has been included along with a new introduction by the translator of the work. We have included the original French text so readers can easily check any questionable passages while using the talismans recommended by the author of the book.Originally composed in Arabic, the editors of the 1839 Lille edition state that "near the end of the last century, the only copy known in Europe was to be found in the library of one of the principle monasteries of Venice." This manuscript was later owned by a Mr. Tyeleton, who had twenty copies of it printed, which were gifted to sovereigns and close friends, notably Mr. Van-Stopel of Amsterdam, whose copy was used as the basis for the French edition.

  • Frederick Hockley - A Complete Book of Magic Science

Containing the method of constraining and exorcisjng spirits to appearance, the consecration of Magic Circles, and The Form of a Bond of Spirits.

Until this edition the grimoire was known only to exist only in the form of several nineteenth century manuscripts, which are said to have been transcribed by Frederick Hockley (1809-1885) from "an ancient Latin manuscript," dated 1519. However, recent research suggests the these manuscripts were probably actually written by Hockley himself, although he obviously made use of a variety of earlier sources. Curiously the work known as 'The Secret Grimoire of Turiel,' seems to have been derived from it, although A Complete Book of Magic Science is lengthier and contains much additional material.

Occult scholar Frederick Hockley made several manuscripts of A Complete Book of Magic Science in the 1830s or 1840s, and one of these, complete with beautiful color drawings of the sigils, magical circles etc., was recently discovered. It is from this Hockley manuscript, that the Teitan Press edition has been prepared.Occult scholar Frederick Hockley made several manuscripts of A Complete Book of Magic Science in the 1830s or 1840s, and one of these, complete with beautiful color drawings of the sigils, magical circles etc., was recently discovered.

  • Anon - Grimoire To Conjure the Spirit of A Place

Downloaded: 18 times | Size: 21 pages | Add to wishlist | Download for @300 credits

The writer states that he was given the ritual by a sea captain. Whilst the generation glamours of grimoires always owe more to imagination than reality this text is an interesting halfway house between the scholarly magic of intellectuals working under the patronage of princes (such as Dee) and the folk magic of those who must, at all costs, protect their crops and livestock. Examples of the latter can be found in some of the spells in the appendices of the Society of Esoteric Endeavour edition of the Gimoire of Pope Honorius. The Grimoire of the Spirit of the Place does have cosmopolitan, Mediterranean references. There is mention of the Ass Headed God which occurred in Italian and Egyptian traditions. The conjurations were written in Latin by someone who was able, but no scholar. They made mistakes that proved an interesting test for a modern academic translator to unravel so as to accurately capture the writers intent. Both the original Latin and the translation are given, printed in different colours for sake of clarity. The conjurations have curious Biblical references that owe more to folk traditions than a reading of the actual Testaments. The writer clearly realises he is describing a dangerous path that would be seen as profoundly delinquent and there are great admonitions to secrecy. Also, it is stated, no one should attempt the ritual unless they are terrified of making a mistake, however minor. Clearly it is intended that the operator should be in an extreme state of mind when performing the ritual. The Grimoire uses the assumed superiority of Christian powers over Infernal spirits to compel one to appear and to assist operator. One wonders if this might be considered a Gnostic impulse. Swimming in a world that is shades of grey it feels natural to use the forces of light to control the forces of darkness to ease ones way. The actual structure of the ritual, the way the spirit is conjured into the pig and released into the circle and so forth, is sophisticated and not present in other Grimoire texts. The baptism of the Grimoire as a child in particular seems very modern, reminiscent of post-Crowley notions of the Magickal Child.
