Michael W. Ford - The Book of the Witch Moon: A Grimoire of Luciferian Witchcraft,
Vampyrism and Chaos Sorcery (146 pages)
@500 The forbidden works of Chaos,
Vampiric and Luciferian Sorcery. Containing a grimoire outlining
the dark feminine current of HECATE, the book outlines the
practice of Satanic or Luciferian Witchcraft from a Cunning craft
viewpoint. Witch Moon explores ritual and dream Lycanthropy, Chaos
Sorcery and Luciferian Ritual practice. The foundation of Book of
the Witch Moon is in the darksome practice of Vampirism and
Predatory Spirituality. The Nine Angles and the Trapezoid
workings, inspired by Anton LaVey and presented around the cult of
Daeva-Yasna, the persian demon-sorcery of Yatuk Dinoih.

Aradia or
the Gospel of the Witches
(79 pages)
Charles Leland. After years of trying Charles Leland met a
practicing Italian witch by the name of Maddelena, who transmitted
to him the teachings of Italian witchcraft. The words (stories)
have become Aradia or the Gospel of the Witches. This manuscript,
reportedly handed down in an oral tradition, was later translated
and published in the late 1800's. While it is true that
Maddelena's involvement with Leland cannot be proven, the fact
remains that even with an uncertain origin, Aradia is one of the
most important manuscripts available to the Pagan community. It
most definitely presents such a powerful message that even today
its words are found repeatedly in various literatures. It is the
foundation for one of the most powerful and well-known documents
in modern Pagan lore, The Charge of the Goddess.

God of the Witches
(116 pages)
Margaret Murray. This celebrated study of witchcraft in Europe
traces the worship of the pre-Christian and prehistoric Horned God
from paleolithic times to the medieval period. Murray, the first
to turn a scholarly eye on the mysteries of witchcraft, enables us
to see its existence in the Middle Ages not as an isolated and
terrifying phenomenon, but as the survival of a religion nearly as
old as humankind itself, whose devotees held passionately to a
view of life threatened by an alien creed. The findings she sets
forth, once thought of as provocative and implausible, are now
regarded as irrefutable by folklorists and scholars in related
fields. Exploring the rites and ceremonies associated with
witchcraft, Murray establishes the concept of the "dying god"--the
priest-king who was ritually killed to ensure the country and its
people a continuity of fertility and strength. In this light, she
considers such figures as Thomas a Becket, Joan of Arc, and Gilles
de Rais as spiritual leaders whose deaths were ritually imposed.
Truly a classic work of anthropology, and written in a clear,
accessible style that anyone can enjoy, The God of the Witches
forces us to reevaluate our thoughts about an ancient and vital
religion.

The Witch-Cult in Western Europe
(182 pages)
Margaret Murray. This is an intensive study of the witch
cult in Great Britain. The author uses French and Flemish sources
to obtain a clearer understanding of the ritual and beliefs, as
the witch cult appears to be the same throughout western Europe.
The sources from which the information used within are the
judicial records and contemporary chroniclers. In the case of the
chroniclers, the author studied their facts, not their opinions.

Mastering Witchcraft
(188 pages)
Paul Huson. This book is a practical how to guide for those
who are interested in witchcraft as a practice. Do not confuse
this with Crowley or related authors either. You will not find the
popular "k" spelling for magic here either. Aliester Crowley
created the "ick" spelling for magic, the author of this book Paul
Huson has no such delusions. This book is for those who are
serious about witchcraft as a practical, hands on, practice.

A Witch Alone:
Thirteen Moons to Master Natural Magic
(139 pages)
Marian Green. Written for serious practitioners, Marian
Green's Witch Alone: Thirteen Moons to Master Natural Magic
guides those who wish to learn the "old religion" without the aid
of a coven. Densely written in a serious tone, Witch Alone
is nonetheless an inspiring and poetic read. Exercises at the end
of each chapter are designed to take a full 28 nights to
accomplish, and are designed to progressively lead one down the
path to success. Worshippers of the goddess and those interested
in exploring the deeper aspects of their own souls will find this
tome deeply informative, but for the neo-pagan committed to
learning solitary witchcraft, Witch Alone is a must-read.

Malleus Maleficarum
(729 pages)
by
Heinrich Kramer and James Sprenger. The Malleus Maleficarum ("The
Hammer of Witches", “Witch Hammer”, or the "Hexenhammer") is
arguably the most important treatise on prosecuting witches to
have come out of the witch hysteria of the Renaissance. It is a
comprehensive witch-hunter’s handbook first published in Germany
in 1487 that grew into dozens of editions spread throughout Europe
and had a profound impact on witch trials on the Continent for
about 200 years. This work is notorious for its use in the witch
hunt hysteria which peaked in the mid-16th through mid-17th
centuries.

Daemonologie (45 pages)
The "Demonologie"
of James VI was an important text in the history of Scottish and
English Witch trials. James developed something of an obsession
with Witches and of hunting them following a plot by the Berwick
Witches to shipwreck him when on his way home from Denmark.
Following this attempt James wrote the Demonologie and gave his
support and whole-hearted approval to the attempt to try and
execute Witches within Scotland. After he became King of England
in 1603 James' book was then anglicised and reprinted in England.

version
compiled by Aidan A. Kelly. This is the text of the Gardnerian
Book of Shadows. In one sense, this is the central sacred text of
the Wicca religion. However, it is important to point out that
there is no 'official' Book of Shadows. Typically each coven has a
hand-written copy of a Book of Shadows, sometimes in cypher or
code, which reflects its own practices and knowledge. This
particular text is derived from a file posted on the Internet in
the early 90s, and quotes previously published material which was
known to be in use by Gardner and his group.

Raymond Bucklands - Complete Book Of Witchcraft
@300cr (261 pages)
This 1986 classic
is not only an excellent introduction to the Wiccan religion and
earth-based religions in general, it's also a workbook that can
take the serious student to the equivalent level of third-degree
Gardnerian. Though Raymond Buckland was a student of the late
great Gerald Gardner, this manual does not adhere to a specific
branch or denomination of witchcraft, but rather seeks to teach
the elements and philosophies common to all, whether Celtic,
Saxon, Finnish, or what have you. Buckland is credited with
bringing the "old religion" to the U.S., and covens and solitary
witches practicing the craft in the U.S. today have him to thank
for getting it out of the closet. While Buckland's Complete Book
of Witchcraft is a must-have for any serious Wiccan practitioner,
it is full of down-to-earth spiritual wisdom, which makes it a
wonderful addition to the library of any broadminded seeker on the
path toward the One.

Alex Sanders - The King of the Witches (155 pages)
This Book is a
cornerstone of Wiccan Literature. It is easy to read in biography
form and explains a number of complex phenomena that were then
taking place within wicca during the early generation of this past
century. As it tells the story of his life, the book explores
intricate balances of life and death, good and evil and of course
the tender standing of wicca to the only just repealed laws
forbidding the public practice of any sort of witch craft. It
includes fascinating accounts of coven meetings and eary
structure, sets the standard for known practise and is a
must-read, along with Gerald Gardener's "Witchcraft Today". The
emergance of hereditary witchcraft into mainstream society was
institutionalised by the leadership of these men and their
contribution of not only the newly unvieled shadows of craft, but
also mystic lore of past ages and knowledge of ancient secrets and
grimoires all has come to form what we recognise today as modern

Curse Tablets and Binding Spells from the Ancient World
by John G. Gager
Paperback: 296
pages
Publisher: Oxford
University Press; New Ed edition (August 1, 1999)
Product Dimensions:
8.2 x 5.5 x 0.7 inches
Shipping Weight:
13.9 ounces.
In the ancient Greco-Roman world, it was common practice to curse or
bind an enemy or rival by writing an incantation on a tablet and
dedicating it to a god or spirit. These curses or binding spells,
commonly called defixiones were intended to bring other people under
the power and control of those who commissioned them.
More than a
thousand such texts, written between the 5th Century B.C.E. and the
5th Century C.E., have been discovered from North Africa to England,
and from Syria to Spain. Extending into every aspect of ancient
life--athletic and theatrical competitions, judicial proceedings,
love affairs, business rivalries, and the recovery of stolen
property--they shed light on a new dimension of classical study
previously inaccessible. Here, for the first time, these texts have
been translated into English with a substantial translator's
introduction revealing the cultural, social, and historical context
for the texts. This book will interest historians, classicists,
scholars of religion, and those concerned with ancient magic.
Ancient Christian Magic
by Marvin W. Meyer,
Richard Smith
Paperback: 432
pages
Publisher:
Princeton University Press (March 15, 1999)
Product Dimensions:
9.2 x 6.2 x 1.2 inches
This thought-provoking collection of magical texts from ancient
Egypt shows the exotic rituals, esoteric healing practices, and
incantatory and supernatural dimensions that flowered in early
Christianity. These remarkable Christian magical texts include
curses, spells of protection from "headless powers" and evil
spirits, spells invoking thunderous powers, descriptions of fire
baptism, and even recipes from a magical "cookbook." Virtually all
the texts are by Coptic Christians, and they date from about the
1st-12th centuries of the common era, with the majority from late
antiquity. By placing these rarely seen texts in historical context
and discussing their significance, the authors explore the place of
healing, prayer, miracles, and magic in the early Christian
experience, and expand our understanding of Christianity and
Gnosticism as a vital folk religion.
Necromancy
Communing With the Spirits: The Magical Practice of Necromancy Simply
and Lucidly Explained, With Full Instructions for the Practice
by Martin Coleman
Greek and Roman Necromancy
by Daniel Ogden
For specialists, this is a treasure trove of the ancient evidence on
necromancy and its related modern scholarship.
In classical antiquity, there was much interest in necromancy--the
consultation of the dead for divination. People could seek knowledge
from the dead by sleeping on tombs, visiting oracles, and attempting to
reanimate corpses and skulls. Ranging over many of the lands in which
Greek and Roman civilizations flourished, including Egypt, from the
Greek archaic period through the late Roman empire, this book is the
first comprehensive survey of the subject ever published in any
language.
Daniel Ogden surveys the places, performers, and techniques of
necromancy as well as the reasons for turning to it. He investigates the
cave-based sites of oracles of the dead at Heracleia Pontica and
Tainaron, as well as the oracles at the Acheron and Avernus, which
probably consisted of lakeside precincts. He argues that the Acheron
oracle has been long misidentified, and considers in detail the
traditions attached to each site. Readers meet the personnel--real or
imagined--of ancient necromancy: ghosts, zombies, the earliest vampires,
evocators, sorcerers, shamans, Persian magi, Chaldaeans, Egyptians,
Roman emperors, and witches from Circe to Medea. Ogden explains the
technologies used to evocate or reanimate the dead and to compel them to
disgorge their secrets. He concludes by examining ancient beliefs about
ghosts and their wisdom--beliefs that underpinned and justified the
practice of necromancy.
The first of its kind and filled with information, this volume will be
of central importance to those interested in the rapidly expanding,
inherently fascinating, and intellectually exciting subjects of ghosts
and magic in antiquity.
