On the Importance of Burying Things

I've always wondered why it works, you know, when you cast a spell and then you bury something according to the spell it seems to get more powerful, I'd really like to know why ...

certain type of spells are made more powerful because you are adding more of one of the elemental powers to the working. hope i understood your question correctly.

You bury an object in the Earth to either:

1. Cleanse the object by letting the Earth absorb the negative energy.

2. Release your intentions of your spell into the Earth through the object...kind of like when you burn a piece of paper to release the written contents/intentions into the air.

3. Empower the object with the Earth's elemental power/energy.

Another way to look at it is, that when we do spells, we are often creating things on the subtle planes. "Store up your treasures in Heaven" for those recovering Christians. When we place the symbols of those things in the Earth. We are bringing them down to a more dense level. Closer to the physical.

Not a necessary post... Persephone and Morgana already addressed the above. Just another way of stating the obvious, I guess.

Hmm

I always try to bury something relating to a spell I have done because of not only what you guys said above but also, I feel like I'm giving something back to the earth. Power or something you know? Its is hard to describe it but that is how I see it.

Good point! In the old days, Chthonic Gods were honoured by burying the sacrifice. Now, I don't mean that they just dug pits and bled out an animal. Yes they did that but also jewelry, a portion of the harvest, garments, anything really. By the way, all Gods share the earth, so as a general offering, something buried is good. Come to think of it, I need to get a couple of pomegranates...
