Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) Masculine/Air Mercury Add a few fenugreek seeds to your mop water to bring money into the home.
Fern Masculine/Air Mercury Plant at the doorstep or keep inside the home for protective purposes. Throw dried fern upon hot coals to exorcise evil spirits. Fern is burned outside to cause rain to fall. The smoke from the burning plant drives away snakes. Carry or wear to discover treasure, and break the first fern frond of spring to have good luck; if this frond is bitten, you will be guarded from toothache. Fern sap is said to confer youth when drunk. If you find yourself in a soundless spot covered with ferns, exactly at midnight, Puck will appear and give you a purse of gold. Carry the seed for invisibility.
Feverfew (Chrysanthemum parthenium) Masculine/Water Venus Carry with you to prevent colds, fevers, and accidents.
Fig (Ficus carica) Masculine/Fire Jupiter Small phallic images are carved from fig wood and carried by women who wish to conceive. Eat to overcome impotence or frigidity. Write a question on a fig leaf. If the leaf dries slowly, the answer is yes; the opposite is true if it dries quickly. Grow in the home for protection and good luck. Grow in the bedroom to ensure restful sleep, or grow in the kitchen to prevent hunger. To charm people, give them a fig and they will be spellbound by your presence (if they like figs). Place a fig branch in front of your door before you leave on a journey to ensure a safe return.
Figwort (Scrophularia nodosa) Feminine/Water Venus Wear around the neck to retain health and to guard against the evil eye. Smoke this plant over Midsummer fires and hang in the home for protection.
Flax (Linum usitatissimum) Masculine/Fire Mercury The seeds are used in money spells. Put some flax in your shoe to ward off poverty. To protect yourself while asleep, mix equal parts flax seed and mustard seed and place the mixture by your bed. On the other side of the bed, place a pan of cold water. To be sure your child grows up to be good-looking, let him/her dance among growing flax at age seven.
Fleabane (Inula dysenterica) Feminine/Water Venus Used to exorcise evil spirits and prevent their entry into the home. To do this, tie some fleabane, along with some leaves of St. John's Wort, wheat, and some capers, into a satchet and hang over the lintel of the door. Place the seed on the sheets to cause chastity.
*Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) Feminine/Water Venus Grow in the garden to protect it and the home. It used to be used to make a black dye, which was then used to paint crossed lines on the floor to prevent evil from entering a house.
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) Masculine/Fire Sun Burned as incense to drive out evil and negativity. Used often for purification, exorcism, protection, and consecration. Also helps meditation and induces visions. Added to sachets for spiritual growth.
Fumitory (Fumaria officinalis) Feminine/Earth Saturn Sprinkle an infusion of fumitory around the house and rub onto your shoes once a week to quickly draw money to you. Burn to exorcise evil spirits.
Fuzzy Weed (Artemisia dracunculus) n/a n/a Used by Native Americans to attract love; they did this by rubbing the plant on their clothing and body. Also carried to bring good luck on a hunt.
Galangal (Alpina officinalis or A. galanga) Masculine/Fire Mars Worn or carried, galangal is protective and brings good luck. Place in a leather satchet with silver to bring money. Burn powedered galangal to break spells and curses. Carry or sprinkle around the home to promote lust. Wear to aid psychic development and to guard the health. Use ginger as a substitute if galangal is unavailable.
Gardenia (Gardenia spp.) Feminine/Water Moon Place fresh gardenia blossoms in sickrooms or on healing altars to promote recovery from illness. Add the dried petals to healing incenses and mixtures, scatter around a room to induce peaceful vibrations, and add to Moon incenses. Also used in love spells and to attract good spirits during ritual. Gardenia possesses very high spiritual vibration.
Garlic (Allium sativum) Masculine/Fire Mars Rub fresh, peeled garlic onto an afflicted part of the body and then throw it into running water. Extremely protective. When evil spirits are around, bite into garlic to send them away. Place beneath children's pillows to protect them while asleep. Also acts as a lust inducer. Used as a sacrifice to Hecate by leaving it at a crossroads.
Gentian (Gentiana lutea) Masculine/Fire Mars Add to love baths and satchets. When used in an incense or satchet, adds a great deal of extra power. Used to break hexes and curses.
Geranium (Pelargonium spp.) Feminine/Water Venus Geraniums of all types are protective when grown in the garden or placed freshly-cut into water inside the home. Protects against snakes. Red geraniums told of coming visitors, because they were magickally charged to point to the direction of approaching strangers. They're also very protective and strengthen health. Pink geraniums are used in love spells, and white ones increase fertility. The rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) is used in protection satchets, and the leaves are rubbed onto doorknobs and windows for protection. Scented geraniums possess powers which are deduced from the scent. For example, nutmeg-scented geraniums have the powers of nutmeg, etc.
Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) Masculine/Fire Mars Eat ginger before spells to make them more powerful. The powdered roots in sprinkled onto money to attract wealth. Use in success spells or to ensure the success of a spell.
Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) Masculine/Fire Sun The root is carried to attract love, preserve health, draw money, and ensure sexual potency. Brings beauty to those who carry it. Burn it to ward off evil spirits and to break curses. Can be a substitute for mandrake.
Goat's Rue (Galega officinalis) Masculine/Air Mercury Use in healing rituals. Place the leaves of this plant into the shoe to cure and prevent rheumatism.
Goldenrod (Solidago odora) Feminine/Air Venus Wear a piece of goldenrod to see your future love. When held in the hand, goldenrod nods in the direction of lost things or where buried treasure lies. Used in money spells. If goldenrod springs up suddenly near the front door, unexpected good fortune will come to the family living there.
Golden Seal (Hydrastis canadensis) Masculine/Fire Sun Used in money spells and healing rituals.
Gorse (Ulex europaeus) Masculine/Fire Mars A good protectant against evil. In Wales, hedges of this prickly plant are used to protect the home against fairies, who cannot penetrate it. Use in money spells, for it attracts gold.
Gotu Kola (Hydrocotyl asiatica) n/a n/a Use in meditation incenses. Burn a small amount prior to (but not during) meditation.
Gourd (Curcurbita spp.) Feminine/Water Moon Hand gourds at the front door to protect against fascination. Pieces of gourd carried in the pocket or purse ward off evil. Gourds filled with dried beans are used to make rattles which scare evil spirits away. Use a gourd with its top cut off as a scrying bowl.

Grains of Paradise (Aframomum melequeta) Masculine/Fire Mars Used in love, lust, luck, and money spells and satchets. It is also an herb used for wishing; hold some in your hands, make a wish, then throw a little of the herb in each direction, beginning in the North and ending the the West.
Grape (Vitis vinifera) Feminine/Water Moon Paint pictures of grapes onto garden walls to ensure fertility. Eat grapes or raisins for increased fertility, as well as to strengthen mental powers. Place grapes on the altar during money spells.
Grass n/a n/a Tie knots in grass around the home to drive out evil and protect it. Carry blades of grass to help psychic powers.
Ground Ivy (Nepeta glechoma) n/a n/a Use ground ivy to discover who is working negative magick against you. Place the herb around the base of a yellow candle and burn on a Tuesday; you will known the person.
Groundsel (Senecio spp.) Feminine/Water Venus Carried as an amulet against toothache, as well as to stop the pain if it starts. Also carried to keep the teeth in general good health.
Gum Arabic (Acacia vera) Masculine/Air Sun Add to incenses for good vibrations, or smoulder alone. Purifies the area of negativity and evil.
Hawthorn (Crataegus oxacantha Masculine/Fire Mars Used to increase fertility; it is often used in weddings (especially those in spring) due to this power. Interestingly, the leaves are used to enforce or maintain chastity; place beneath the mattress or around the bedroom. Protects against lightning and evil ghosts. Protects against storm damage. The hawthorn is sacred to fairies and is part of the tree fairy triad of Britain ("Oak, Ash, and Thorn"). Where all three grow together, you can see fairies. Carry in a satchet on a fishing trip to ensure a good catch, and wear or carry to promote happiness in troubled, sad, or depressed people.
Hazel (Corylus spp.) Masculine/Air Sun Eat the nuts to give wisdom and increase fertility. Weave hazel twigs into a crown. Put it on your head and wish very hard. Your wish may come true. Twigs of hazel are placed in window frames to protect from lightning, and three pins of hazel wood driven into the house will protect it from fire.
Heather (Calluna spp.; Erica spp.) Feminine/Water Venus Carry to guard against violent crime, or to bring good luck. Burn it with fern to attract rain.
*Heliotrope (Heliotropium europaeum or H. arborescens) Masculine/Fire Sun Place beneath the pillow to induce prophetic dreams; if you've been robbed, the thief will appear in your dream. Used in exorcism incenses and mixtures, as well as in healing satchets. Place in the pocket or purse to attract wealth and money, or ring green candles with this herb and burn completely for this purpose. Fill a small horn with heliotrope and wear or carry it; your movements and actions will not draw attention.
*Hellebore, Black (Helleborus niger) Feminine/Water Saturn Scatter powdered hellebore before you as you walk and you shall be invisible. Once used in exorcism rituals and for inducing astral projection. This herb is very dangerous.
*Hemlock (Conium maculatum) Feminine/Water Saturn A very dangerous herb (Socrates should know!), hemlock was once used in magick to induce astral projection and in spells to destroy sexual drive. Its juice was also rubbed onto magickal knives and swords to purify them before use.
Hemp (Cannibus sativa) Feminine/Water Saturn This herb is also known as marijuana, and is an illegal substance in the United States. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend trying any of these rituals.
To see a vision of a future spouse, people would take a handful of hempseeds to a church at midnight. Once there, they walked around the church nine times and sprinkled the seeds as they went and repeated "Hempseed I sow, hempseed I sow, who will come after me and mow?". Was also once part of many vision, meditation, and scrying incenses. Mugwort and hemp were prescribed to be burned before a magick mirror to gain visions. Scourges made of hemp were used in China as imitation snakes to drive out illness-causing demons from a sick person. This was done by beating the hemp against the sickbed.
*Henbane (Hyosycamus niger) Feminine/Water Saturn Sometimes used as a love-bringing herb in this way; a man gathers henbane naked early in the morning while standing on one foot, and wears it to bring love (personally, I think roses are safer and nicer). Burned outside, henbane attracts rain, but the fumes are poisonous. Use fern instead.
Henna (Lawsonia inermis) n/a n/a Place on forehead to relieve headaches. Wear near the heart to attract love. Protects from illness and the evil eye.
Hibiscus (Hibiscus spp.) Feminine/Water Venus The blossoms are used in love incenses and sachets. The flowers of a red hibiscus are brewed into a lust-inducing tea.
Hickory (Carya spp.) n/a n/a Burn a piece of hickory root to ashes, mix with cinquefoil and place the mixture in a box. Hang over the door to make sure you won't have trouble with the law.
*High John the Conqueror (Ipomoea Purga or I. jalapa) Masculine/Fire Mars Anoint one of the roots with mint oil, tie up in a green sachet, and carry to attract money. Carried to stop depression, bring love and success, protect from all hexes and curses, and to break and destroy spells and hexes. To make a simple, all-purpose anointing oil, take three roots from this plant, make small cuts in them with a sharp knife, and place them in a bottle of carrier oil. Let them soak for several weeks. Leave the roots in the oil and use.
Holly (Ilex aquifolium or I. opaca) Masculine/Fire Mars Guards against lightning, poison, and evil spirits. If you throw a holly plant at a wild animal, it will leave you alone. Carried by men to promote good luck, because it is a male plant.
Honesty (Lunaria spp.) Feminine/Earth Moon Carry this plant to repel monsters. Used in money spells. Carry in a purse or pocket to draw wealth.
Honeysuckle (Lonicera caprifolium) Masculine/Earth Jupiter Crush fresh flowers and then rub on your forehead to heighten psychic powers. A honeysuckle plant growing outside the home brings good luck; if it grows over the door, it will prevent fevers.
Hops (Humulus lupulus) Masculine/Air Mars Stuff a pillow with dried hops to bring sleep and rest. Also used in healing sachets and incenses.
Horehound (Marrubium vulgare) Masculine/Air Mercury Burn as a sacrifice to Horus. Used in protective sachets, and is carried to guard against sorcery and fascination. Scattered as an exorcism herb. Drink an infusion of this herb to clear your mind, promote quick thinking, and strengthen mental powers. Mix with ash leaves and place in a bowl of water to release healing vibrations. *Horse Chestnut (Aesculus spp.) Masculine/Fire Jupiter Carry to ward off rheumatism, backaches, arthritis, and chills. Carry three to guard against giddiness. Wrap a dollar bill around a horse chestnut, place into a sachet, and carry to attract money. Also carry for success in all things.
Horseradish (Cochlearia armoracia) Masculine/Fire Mars The root, when dried and ground can be sprinkled around the house, in corners, on the front steps, and on doorsills to make all evil powers leave. This will also diffuse any spells that may have been sent against you.
Horsetail (Equisetum spp.) Feminine/Earth Saturn Whistles made of horsetail stems will call snakes to the musicians when played. Use in fertility mixtures, or place in the bedroom for this purpose.
Houndstongue (Cynoglossum officinale) Masculine/Fire Mars Place this herb in your shoe to prevent dogs from barking at you. This herb ties their tongues.
Houseleek (Sempervivum tectorum) Masculine/Air Jupiter Grow on the roof for good luck and to prevent the building from lightning strikes. If worn fresh and replaced every few days, houseleek is a love-inducing herb.
Huckleberry (Gaylussacia spp.) Feminine/Water Venus Carry the leaves for luck and to break/prevent hexes and curses.
Hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis) Feminine/Water Venus Use in sachets to ease the pain of childbirth. Grow the plant in a bedroom to guard against nightmares. Sniff the fresh flowers to relieve grief and depression, and the dried flowers are used in love mixtures.

Iris (Iris spp.) Feminine/Water Venus Used for purification; place the fresh flowers in the area to be cleansed. The three points of the flower symbolize faith, wisdom, and valor, and so the flower can be used to induce these qualities.
Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus) Feminine/Water Moon Carried or placed beneath rugs to increase luck and to ensure a steady flow of money. Also carried for protection while traveling, and to stuff money or luck poppets.
Ivy (Hedera spp.) Feminine/Water Saturn Carried by women for good luck (this is the corresponding plant to holly). Where ivy is grown or placed, that place is guarded against negativity and disaster.
Jasmine (Jasminum officinale or J. odoratissimum) Feminine/Water Moon Added to sachets and other love mixtures. The flowers draw wealth and money. Will cause prophetic dreams if burned in the bedroom, and the flowers are smelled to induce sleep.
Job's Tears (Coix Iachryma) n/a n/a String the seeds onto a necklace and place around a child's neck to aid in teething. Adults wear this necklace for sore throats and colds. The seeds absorb pain and illness. Carry the seeds for good luck. For wishing magick, make a wish holding seven seeds and then throw into running water. Or, count out seven seeds, concentrating on your wish, then carry the seeds for a week and your wish should come true.

Juniper (Juniperus communis) Masculine/Fire Sun Guards against theft, evil people, and negativity. Protects the wearer from accidents and wild animal attacks. Added to love mixtures. Helps psychich powers, breaks hexes and curses, and drives off snakes when carried.
Kava-Kava (Piper methysticum) Feminine/Water Saturn An infusion of this plant's root is drunk to protect against evil and to bring good luck. Infused and left to steep overnight in the refrigerator, drink to enhance psychic powers and to induce visions. Don't drink too much, though, or you could damage your kidneys.
Knotweed (Polygonum aviculare) Feminine/Earth Saturn Hold some knotweed in your hand, pour your problems into the herb and see it absorbing them. Burn it, and your miseries and troubles will be bound. Carry to strengthen and protect the eyes.
Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris) Feminine/Water Venus Use this herb in love spells and sachets.
Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium pubescens) Feminine/Water Saturn Used in protective sachets because it guards against all hexes, curses, and the evil eye.
Larch (Larix europaea) n/a n/a Larch wood supposedly cannot be penetrated by fire, and so it is used in sachets designed to prevent them. Carry or wear to prevent enchantment and to protect against the evil eye.
Larkspur (Delphinium spp.) Feminine/Water Venus Keeps away ghosts. Looks through a bunch of larkspur at a Midsummer fire and your eyes will be preserved until next Midsummer. The flowers frighten scorpions and other venomous creatures.
Lavender (Lavendula offcinale or L. vera) Masculine/Air Mercury Used in love spells and sachets. Place lavender in clothes drawers and wear the clothing to attract love, and rub lavender on paper before you write a love note. Burned to induce sleep and rest, and scattered about the home to maintain peace. Smelled often, aids in longevity. Good in healing mixtures.
Leek (Allium spp.) Masculine/Fire Mars When two people eat leeks, they will fall in love with each other. They are carried as protective amulets and are bitten to break hexes and drive away evil.
Lemon (Citrus limon) Feminine/Water Moon Lemon juice mixed with water is used to wash second-hand magickal objects. It cleanses negative vibrations. Lemon juice is added to bath water at the Full Moon for purification. Add the dried flowers and peel to love sachets and mixtures, and use the leaves in lust teas. Serve lemon pie to a spouse to promote fidelity. Place a slice of lemon under a visitor's chair to promote lasting friendship. Use a lemon as a poppet. Get an unripe lemon, no bigger than 1 and 1/2 inches in diameter, and a lot of color-headed pins (except black). Stick the pins one at a time into the lemon until it's full of them. Attach a piece of yarn or ribbon to the lemon and hang in the home to bring blessings and luck, or give to a friend.

Also worn to make oneself attractive to the opposite sex and in love spells and mixtures. Also added to other mixtures to increase their strength. Sometimes used to purify an area or added to bathwater for purification.
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) Feminine/Water Moon Rub lettuce juice on your forehead or eat the leaves to help you fall asleep. Grow in the garden for protection, but too many will result in sterility. Eat lettuce to promote chastity, and also to prevent seasickness. Plant lettuce seeds in the form of a name of someone you love. If they sprout well, so will the love between you.
Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra Feminine/Water Venus Chewing on the root will make you passionate. Added to love and lust sachets, carried to attract love, and used in fidelity spells.
Life-Everlasting (Anaphalis spp.; Gnaphalium uliginosum) n/a n/a Use in spells aimed at longevity or restoring youth. Keep in the home or carry to prevent sickness and ill-health. Drink an infusion of life-everlasting every morning, before eating or drinking anything else, while saying "Chills and ills, pains and banes, do your fasting with life everlasting". Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) Feminine/Water Venus Drives away evil where it is planted or strewn, as was done in New England. Fresh lilac flowers can be placed in a haunted house to help clear it.
Lily (Lilium spp.) Feminine/Water Moon Plant lilies in the garden to keep away ghosts and evil, protect against the evil eye, and to keep away unwanted visitors. Good antidotes for love spells. Carry a fresh lily to break a love spell cast on a specific person. Bury an old piece of leather in a bed of lilies to gain clues in solving a crime committed within the past year. The first white lily of the season brings strength to whoever finds it.

Lime (Citrus aurantifolia or L. Limetta) Masculine/Fire Sun Pierce a fresh lime with old iron nails, spikes, pins, and needles and throw into a deep hole in the ground to rid yourself of all ills, hexes, etc. Wear a necklace of limes to cure a sore throat. Use lime peel in love mixtures and incenses. To cure a toothache, drive a nail into the trunk of a lime tree (but thank it first). Carry lime twigs to protect against the evil eye.
Linden (Tilia europaea) Masculine/Air Jupiter Hang linden branches over a door or grow the tree in the garden for protection. Carry linden bark to prevent intoxication, and use the leaves and flowers in love spells. Use its leaves also in spells involving immortality. Mix equal parts lavender and linden into a pillow to cure insomnia. Good luck charms are carved from linden wood and carried.
Liquidamber (Liquidambar spp.) Masculine/Fire Sun Hold or place the seed pods on the altar during magickal rites to protect against evil forces. Substitute the bark of this plant for storax bark.
Liverwort (Anemone hepatica-American; Peltigera canina-English) Masculine/Fire Jupiter To gain the love of a man, a woman can carry a liverwort sachet with her at all times.

Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) Feminine/Earth Moon Give some of this herb to a friend you are fighting with to settle the argument. Scatter about the home to bring peaceful vibrations and to keep evil forces away.
Louts (Nymphaea lotus) Feminine/Water Moon Breathe the scent of lotus to receive its protection. Place a lotus root under your tongue and say "SIGN, ARGGIS" towards a locked door to open it. Lotus seeds and pods are used as love spells antidotes. Any part of the lotus carried or worn ensures good luck and blessings from the Gods.

Lucky Hand (Orchis spp.) Feminine/Water Venus This is the root of the orchid plant which looks like a hand. It is used for protection, luck, success, and to obtain and maintain employment. Fill a jar with rose oil. Place several lucky hands in it and let them soak. *Mandrake (Mandragora officinale) Masculine/Fire Mercury Place a whole mandrake root on the mantle in the home to give the house protection, fertility, and prosperity. Hang over the headboard for protection while sleeping, carry to attract love, and wear to prevent illness. Where there is mandrake, evil cannot reside.
